New 'Firefight' Mode Coming to Halo Wars 2 and Features the Flood as Enemies Again
The only appearance of Halo in MS' E3 press conference yesterday was a pretty picture of the Chief and a small logo stating Halo Wars 2 will be enhanced for the new 4k machine, Xbox One X, but today we got the news that a new 'Firefight Mode' is coming to Halo Wars 2 and will feature the Flood as enemies for the first time in a Halo game since Halo 3! (Thanks davidfuchs!)

'The Autumn, She's Been Hit'
'Heroes were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed, and their names and deeds will never be forgotten.' - Myth: The Fallen Lords Prologue

If you've been around here at HBO for any amount of time, you've probably seen the <3 logo pop up every February 15th, and each year we as a community reflect on the life of Brian Morden in remembrance. If you're not sure what Brian 'Ar-Isildur' Morden meant to this community, check out the page set up to help us never forget. (MacGyver10 22:11:52 UTC)

It is! No, it isn't! Yes, it is!
So when Halo for Xbox One was announced at E3 this year, Microsoft was quick to clarify that this was not Halo 5 - it was Halo for Xbox One. Unfortunately, Axis Animation, the group that made the trailer, didn't get the memo - a couple of days ago, they posted a copy of the trailer on their Facebook page that actually had a 'Halo Five' logo at the end of it. The original Vimeo video has been made private, but if you read the Facebook comments, you'll find a link to an Italian gaming site with a copy. Sometimes you have to just shake your head... thanks to Overdoziz at NeoGAF for the heads-up. (Louis Wu 23:21:34 UTC)

I Know a Guy Who Knows a Guy
gamerguy2002 dropped by the forum to share a picture that shows off a few logos of some unannounced and announced games. Among the logos is a Halo symbol with the number five in the middle as well as the recently announced Spartan Assault game - looks pretty fake to me. According to gamerguy2002, this picture was circulating BEFORE the announcement of Spartan Assault. I guess we'll find out in a few days, for now this story gets the official rumor stamp. A well thought-out logo
Over at Reddit, a reader noticed a pretty cool factoid that was new to me: in the standard Halo 4 UNSC logo, the text reads 'UNSC' both horizontally (normally) and vertically (rotated and flipped). Clever! (Louis Wu 14:57:59 UTC)

Ooh! Ooh! I bet it's a pony.
Mountain Dew UK has decided to promote a Halo 4-related reveal (hmm, what could it be) by asking for Facebook Shares - until they get 1000, all you can see is the Master Chief and the logo (and some blurred out stuff that's relatively easy to interpret). Wanna help? You know what to do. Thanks, ElzarTheBam. Update: Heh - the Facebook page is still only a quarter of the way to the requisite number of Shares... but a bottle of the stuff they're hiding is already up on eBay. Oops! Not all UNSCs are the same.
Sometimes, I see something on the internet that makes me wonder about where we're going. Last week, the BBC (the BBC!!) ran a story on the UN Security Council and its response to events in Syria... and whoever was responsible for visuals for the piece accidentally included the United Nations Space Command logo (yes, the one from the Halo universe) to represent the Security Council. Ouch! Best video I've seen was in that Kotaku story linked above, but the incident was brought up on our forum by mneo. Wow. Just... wow. (Louis Wu 15:07:51 UTC)

'Destiny,' 'Be Brave' officially owned by Bungie
It's there as plain as day. Bungie is now the clear-cut owner of the trademarks for "Destiny" and "Be Brave."

The marks were originally owned by Podophobia Entertainment, a dummy corporation established by Bungie's Studio Manager Harold Ryan and Audio Director Marty O'Donnell. It appears the trademarks are the same ones filed by the corporation but with a change in ownership, as every other detail is identical to the originals, down to the filing and publication dates.

The Y-shaped "Destiny" logo was seen in Bungie's latest ViDoc, "O Brave New World," but the game was still mentioned by its codename, "Tiger." Sharp-eyed fan Daniel Duncan spotted a poster for "Destiny" when he scoured the 55-minute video for new information. And if you'd like to see more of his finds, check out his latest article from Misriah Solutions if you haven't already. (Hitmonchan 07:15:41 UTC)

Quick Roundup of New Content
There was an amazing amount of new content (and analysis of new content) released yesterday, with respect to the newly-announced Halo: CE Anniversary Edition (coming November 15) and Halo 4 (coming winter 2012) - we hit the highlights yesterday, but here are some of the extra tidbits I found buried in our forum. There's plenty more - if you need every bit you can get, keep a window open there!

More as it comes up! (Louis Wu 15:32:47 UTC)

New discovery supports old rumor

Destiny

It's time you start believing in destiny.

Tracing the paper trails of Bungie employees, I discovered Podophobia Entertainment, a dummy corporation formed by company president Harold Ryan and composer Martin O'Donnell. And wouldn't you know it, a quick trademark search for the company revealed a listing for "Destiny."

Does that name sound familiar? It's the title an ex-Bungie contractor leaked to Kotaku after he said he was fired. He also said the game blends together first-person shooter, MMO and sci-fi elements.

The trademark describes the game as "[c]omputer game software downloadable from a global computer network."

NeoGAF member Willeth noticed strange symbols on a Bungie employee's T-shirt in a recent video from Penny Arcade. The small symbol on his left shoulder matches the logo in the listing.

According to Trademarkia, the trademark was filed July 20, 2009, and it was granted a second extension on March 7.

Podophobia Entertainment goes back to May 8, 2006, according to the Delaware Division of Corporations. It is now listed as inactive.

The company has a second trademark filed, "Be Brave," which was also granted a second extension on Feb. 24. The description for the trademark is nearly identical to the one for "Destiny." (Hitmonchan 13:38:25 UTC)

Sort of a Philly Flyers vibe...
Pretty intriguing find by Willeth over at NeoGAF - Bungie invited Penny Arcade back for a ping pong rematch... and Jonty Barnes wore a shirt with a pretty intriguing logo on it. Does this tell you anything about Bungie's newest project? (Louis Wu 15:42:34 UTC)
