Sticky Bees - from an old Halo fan
mothergoat hasn't been around a lot - but he stopped by yesterday to announce his latest iPhone/iPod/iPad game called Sticky Bees (also in HD). You might think this has nothing to do with Halo... but you'd be wrong. Go grab a copy, and play! (Louis Wu 17:05:30 UTC)

Dream of an Unyielding Spartan
MASSAIKUR put together an interesting video based on what John 117 might dream about; the soundtrack is a song by the inimitable Mothergoat. Go watch! (Louis Wu 14:26:27 UTC)

Remember Reach (Fan Recut)
Yet another campaign trailer recut - this one from P40L0. 4:35 long, and using Mothergoat's Fury to Fire as its soundtrack (a reminder of this wonderful piece is one of the best parts of this!)... go watch. (Louis Wu 10:43:44 UTC)

From Halo to Halos
Longtime community member Mothergoat has left his dream job in Seattle to move back to his hometown... for a higher calling. The writeup touches on Halo, as it should. Thanks, AngelicLionheart. (You were right, nice title.) (Louis Wu 16:48:45 UTC)

A Drawn-on Life
Heh - Kotaku has a story about Matt 'mothergoat' Cox, who has produced a rather large body of work in the Halo fan community and is now a lead designer at 5TH Cell. Apparently, he went on vacation recently, and while he was gone, his coworkers pranked him by wrapping his entire desk in brown paper (which they then lovingly labeled). Even the Master Chief Legendary helmet on the shelf got wrapped! Fun stuff. Thanks, ArteenEsben. (Louis Wu 15:02:42 UTC)

When the World Ends
Mothergoat stopped by to release a new Halo-inspired tune - 'When the World Ends'. Go listen. (2:29, 3.4 mb) That man is pretty amazing. (Louis Wu 20:52:47 UTC)

Blood Horizon
It's been a little while since we've heard new music from Mothergoat - but the Halo 3 Beta has inspired him, and this morning he released 'Blood Horizon', a hard-rockin' paean to the Master Chief's fight against the Covenant. 4.6 mb, mp3 format, available from his site or ours. (Both links, plus lyrics, are in the forum post.) And there's another one coming later this week... (Louis Wu 14:59:47 UTC)

Immure 2
NeuroKoNeza stopped by our forum to announce that Immure 2, a sequel to a map created back in September 2005 by himself and Mothergoat, will be released this coming Friday, November 24. He's removed the Wasp, the flying single-person fighter, that unbalanced gameplay in the first version, and replaced it with another new vehicle - a Flame Hog (a custom warthog with a massive flamethrower on the back). Lots of pictures are available. (Louis Wu 01:17:47 UTC)

Last Dance (of the Demon)
More goodness from Mothergoat - he released 'Last Dance (of the Demon)', a new piece he composed for a Halo CE map called Akathisia. He's not sure when the map's coming out, though, so he's releasing the song now. Almost 6 minutes long, 10.6 mb in MP3 format... great piece. Go listen! (We'll mirror it if there are any problems - just let us know.) (Louis Wu 14:02:01 UTC)

Wii Simply Cannot Stand It.
This isn't Halo news, but it's the longest 'groaner' thread I've seen in a while. It's like the whole forum is channeling Stuntmutt or something. Mothergoat pointed out that the Nintendo Revolution has gotten it's REAL name (Revolution was a working title)... and the forum community sort of... tore it a new one. Ouch. Maybe Nintendo should reconsider. (Louis Wu 22:44:32 UTC)

Fadeout
Mothergoat wrote a new song for the next episode of Sponsors vs Freeloaders... but that series was in limbo for a while, and although things are looking up again, it almost certainly won't be out before June. So MG got the go-ahead to release the song now. It's Halo-related mostly in the sense that it was created for a Halo machinima series; it's original work, doesn't seem to be based on Halo themes. That said, though - it's pretty solid stuff - go listen! It's pretty short (under a minute and a half) and pretty small (under 2 mb) - but there's a lot of energy packed in there! (Louis Wu 06:52:32 UTC)

Lookie
Mothergoat released a followup to the MPD vid that hit the Halo scene a month and a half ago. Vanilla Ice got NUTHIN' on this white boy. You gotta watch this, even if you hate rap. Cause it's hilarious. Just over 50 mb, in WMP9 format (see Mutha G's forum post for a download link) - if you need a QuickTime version, we're hosting one for him because laughter is the best medicine. Think of this as a huge Benadryl-and-Robitussen cocktail. (Louis Wu 04:43:31 UTC)

MPD - You CAN be cured.
Wow. Mothergoat took some time out of his busy schedule to put together a Public Service Announcement yesterday; he looks carefully at MPD, a treatable disorder affecting a large percentage of the over-24 gamer population. I think even Green Day would approve. Swing by his forum post for download links (we've provided local mirrors, both of his original WMP9 and a QT version for those who need it). Then laugh a lot. Flattery? Nah.
Wow, I've seen sleazy... but this is pretty amazing. Over at a site called 'JonsModding', they're SELLING (yes, selling) three maps for your Xbox, which they're willing to install for you. These maps come from "the programming department teamed with JonsModding", and they "have programmed the maps to use the old halo 1 weapontry and we have even added a new vehicle called 'The Wasp'." The three maps? "We have named them Immature, Anxiety, and Corrupted." Whoa... that sounds a lot like the names of the three maps released by Mothergoat back in September! (Well, except for the Immure/Immature typo - but that actually gets corrected later on down the page.) And hey - those screenshots look the same, too! Oh... no wonder... JonsModding simply linked to the images on mothergoat.net. Dang, they couldn't even be bothered to localize the images they stole. Wow. These guys have a forum - maybe some of you want to discuss this issue with them? (Louis Wu 11:52:16 UTC)

The WASP is out
w00t - Mothergoat has released the WASP, a very cool flying vehicle for use in HaloCE maps. (If you've never seen it, visit this forum post, and download the movie therein - you'll see it in action. For HaloCE Mapmakers, you can now include this vehicle in your own maps... for players, you just have to wait until someone DOES. (Louis Wu 13:40:01 UTC)

The Voiceless Prisoner
Mothergoat has created a new version of 'The Prisoner', the song he released yesterday with his new HaloCE maps. This version is missing the narration at the beginning, making it more suitable for Halo vids. (If you use it as such, read his post carefully for credit requirements.) He's linked a copy from his website... but we're gonna mirror it just in case (he got swamped yesterday due to overeager fans, I don't want that to happen again). MP3 format, 5 mb. Awesome. (Louis Wu 03:17:33 UTC)

Goatacular Map Pack
mothergoat's been around for quite some time, and has garnered community respect both for his mapmaking skills in HaloCE, and for his musical abilities (do a search in our news database for some of his Halo-related works) - he's back, with more of both. The Goatacular Map Pack includes 3 new maps, created with the help of some of the bigger names in the HaloCE community - he's posted descriptions, screenshots, walkthrough movies, and the new musical piece that accompanies them. Go grab the lot! (Louis Wu 15:00:16 UTC)

Lawrence.com looks at the Map Pack
Matt Cox (known around here as Mothergoat) has written a review of the Multiplayer Map Pack for Lawrence.com - go give it a read! (It's very well written, and comes up with some conclusions that aren't the same as all the other reviews you might have read - worth listening to.) (Louis Wu 20:59:57 UTC)
