It might be time for cake.
Wow. Been a little while since I posted here (thanks, MacGyver10, for making that possible!), but a recent email from Stuntmutt, coupled with the 19th anniversary of this site, made for a pretty compelling siren call. Swing by the One One Se7en page for a new guest strip, and Stuntmutt's response. (We haven't accepted guest strips for that comic since 2004. We had to sweep a lot of dust out to even find the right buttons.) And to everyone still stopping by for a little bit of Halo news now and then, thanks for all the memories! Hyena's Final Halo 3 Montage: 'Mastery'
Wow. I haven't watched a lot of montages recently, but Morpheus pointed us to the final Halo 3 montage from Office Hyena, called "Mastery"... and I must say, I'm impressed. Seven minutes of 'wow'. Check it out! (Louis Wu 00:15:00 UTC)

Now that's an incredible ear.
Wow. Check out this video from PlayerPiano - Sonya Belousova listens to the Halo theme for a few seconds... and then plays her own take on it. Amazing. (She covers a number of other video game themes in the same video.) Go watch! Thanks, Jeff. (Louis Wu 21:21:10 UTC)

They should hire that guy as a tester.
Wow. This video was released by Nowise10 back in April... but I totally missed it until now, when scarab pointed it out. It's a collection of 75 glitches in Halo: Reach - some are things you may have noticed, some are things you'd only see if you were breaking outside of the normal playspace. All of them are clearly bugs that SHOULD have been fixed, had Bungie had infinite time and resources. I'm betting that many of them were known before launch... but sometimes you just have to ship it. I love this stuff, partly because it shows how insanely complicated and rich these games are... and how dedicated fans are to finding things that don't work as planned. (Louis Wu 21:44:08 UTC)

Halo 4 looks spectacular in UE4
Wow. Over on the Polycount Forum, Hristo Rusanov posted some shots of a work in progress - a recreation of the first level of Halo 4, in the Unreal Engine 4. Beautiful! mastrbiggy noticed it on NeoGAF, posted by Computron. (Louis Wu 21:43:03 UTC)

Podtacular 425
Dustin sent word that Podtacular 425 is out. (425? Geez. At an average of 14 hours/podcast, that's... wow. A lot of weeks of listening.) Topics include the Halo Mash-up pack for Minecraft, and a new segment where they highlight a local forum thread. Go listen! (Louis Wu 22:35:57 UTC)

Redefining Halo 4 Grifball
Wow. I remember when Grifball was a casual sport. Just watched a video on GrifballHub that showed me how far it's come - we're not in Kansas any more. Check it out! (Louis Wu 22:57:59 UTC)

It's Broken AGAIN?
Wow. Last week, slYnki beat the world speed record for Silent Cartographer... and yesterday, it happened again. Vetro shaved a full 5 seconds off the total - amazing! Check it out. Thanks, Reed Tiburon. (Louis Wu 19:26:57 UTC)

SC in 3.75 minutes. Wow.
slYnki has (re)broken the world record speed run for Silent Cartographer - it's now down to 3:44! Take a look! (Louis Wu 20:20:30 UTC)

attack on titan x HALO

Halo - taking shape in Project Spark
Wow. We mentioned SEspider's remake of Silent Cartographer in the Project Spark Beta a couple of days ago - he stopped back with an update, and there's a LOT more work done! Those hunters are pretty awesome for a first cut. (Louis Wu 21:03:47 UTC)

Vadum - a map you probably won't play
Wow. gamecheat13 sent us a link to a video showing off gameplay on Vadum, a map he converted from Halo 3's campaign's Shadow of Intent playspace (with some help from Lord Zedd) - this is not playable without a modded Xbox, but it shows the sort of thing that COULD have been if Halo 3 had been released for the PC with mod support. Pretty cool! (Louis Wu 22:25:42 UTC)

so currency much coin - buy helmet
I... I don't even know how to describe this. The 'Doge' meme which exploded on Tumblr spawned a cryptocurrency last December - Dogecoin is an alternative to Bitcoin, and even though it's satire, you can buy stuff with it. Halo-related stuff, even. Like, say... pepakura Halo helmets. Wow. (Thanks, RVideo.) (Louis Wu 18:01:11 UTC)

Workin' on the Drives
343 Artist Sparth has been doing a bunch of '30 minute sketches' recently - and his latest one is called 'Stardrive Maintenant'. Wow... just wow. (Louis Wu 22:58:39 UTC)

HMV Hell 4 Trailer
Wow. Dustin 'Dust Storm' Pettigrew sent along a link to a video that had all sorts of memory-triggering names in it - remember ImSuck? How about HollywoodHalo? If you've been a fan since the Halo 2 days, those names mean something to you. So a video called 'HMV Hell 4 Trailer', posted on ImSuck's channel and containing work done by members of Dark Space and HollywoodHalo, make me all sorts of hot. Go watch! (Louis Wu 22:14:24 UTC)

I need more walls.
Wow. Last week we mentioned the Silent Cartologist, a site devoted to custom poster-style art inspired by the Halo universe. Its creator (curator?) returned today, with three new images - they're spectacular. These would look wonderful on any wall! Go see. (Louis Wu 18:39:54 UTC)

Momma said knock you out!
Wow. Nicholas Marchetti released 'Halo Legends Episode 7: Homecoming Abridged' - it's consciously silly, but not a lot sillier than the original! It's a fun watch - check it out. Thanks, TheStuffedCrust. (Louis Wu 19:32:42 UTC)

Dan Marino makes a Halo 4 appearance
Wow... Clicked showed off a grenade-throwing glitch that has some serious possibilities (as far as changing gameplay goes). Check out the video - and if you're not one of those people who masters this sort of thing, at least you won't have to say "hey, how'd he do that?" the next time it happens to you. Thanks, CyReN. For people with too much money...
Wow. I've seen overpriced Halo auctions before... but this one might take the cake. Over at Halo Waypoint, Pocket Dorkfish has posted a link to an eBay auction in which he's selling some sealed games, some giveaways from release parties/conventions, and a couple of books (including a signed copy of The Art of Halo 3, which is pretty rare). Starting bid? $5,000. Buy It Now for $12,000! Wow. Just... wow. (Louis Wu 19:46:37 UTC)

Halo 3 Crow's Nest, Legendary, 9:46
Wow. NOKYARD stopped by NeoGAF to point out a speedrun on Crow's Nest by HISTORY100, a new Japanese speedrunner. This video contains all sorts of new techniques that cut almost a minute off the existing Solo Legendary record. Riding the Drones... that's a first, for me. Go watch! Update: RC Master let us know that a render with English-language audio is up on HighSpeedHalo, if you would rather listen to that. (Louis Wu 14:13:54 UTC)

When you're upset, climb a mountain.
A couple of weeks ago, we mentioned that the Japanese voice actors for Master Chief and Cortana have been replaced, and that this is upsetting some Japanese Halo fans. One fan decided to step it up a little bit - he climbed to the top of Mount Fuji, dressed as the Chief, and showed off a petition to reverse the decision. Wow. Thanks, wwm0nkey.
