Waiting for Halo 4: Deleted Scenes
About a month ago, we mentioned a documentary by Joseph "Maniac" Cirillo, chronicling his love of the Halo franchise over the years. Today, he let us know that there are some deleted scenes he didn't get a chance to include - you can go watch them on his website. (Louis Wu 19:42:55 UTC)

Halo 4/Hip-Hop Mini-Documentary
SkeeTV has released a mini-documentary about hip-hop stars playing Halo - go see what Soulja Boy, Xzibit, DJ Skee, Prodigy, and more think about Halo 4 (and its predecessors)! Thanks to mastrbiggy, who found this on Jesse Snyder's Twitter feed. (The gamertag Xzibit talks about, Konkey Dong, doesn't actually seem to exist. Sadness!) (Louis Wu 17:09:36 UTC)

Noc-Noc, Who's There?
Hedgemony is back from his vision quest in the Andes mountains with a freshly-minted copy of Samurai Fronk: Wanted Mostly Dead Part 3. We've gotten word that CNN is cancelling a special on the Higgs-Boson in order to air a documentary on Hedge's artistic inspiration titled "Toast & Vegemite: The Naked Muse". Just in case that falls through though, you can still catch all of his brilliant comic work right here. Check it out! Oh and uh... nice t-shirt. ;-) (GrimBrother One 16:18:35 UTC)

Goodies from Bungie
So being gone last week meant that Bungie's website didn't get the love it normally does from me - and there's been quite a bit of new content recently.

  • The Bungie Forum Tryhards had a ridealong last Thursday - DeeJ got a chance to play some Reach matchmaking with folks who consider it their calling to help others get better at the game.
  • A new Mail Sack went live on Friday - there are weird questions and even weirder answers. Those people are ODD.
  • The latest Breaking In went live last night - Darren Bacon is a Senior Concept Artist who likes cars and t-shirts. I mean, really - what else is there?
  • Over on YouTube, Bungie posted Behind the Scenes: Making of Halo 2, the documentary that could previously be found bundled with the Limited Edition version of Halo 2. If you haven't seen this, it's absolutely worth the hour or so. (And hey - I'm in it!)

For a totally dark studio... they're pretty full of stuff. CONTENT! FULL OF CONTENT! (Tom Van Sinden 14:26:07 UTC)

Halo Documentary
Huh. There's a passionate group of gamers turned filmmakers who want to show you how Halo has changed the world of gaming, and our culture - and they've turned to Kickstarter as a way to make it happen. They need $80,000, and they've given themselves just over a month to collect it. Swing by the page and read about the project (they've also got a Facebook page and a Twitter feed, though it seems to have been suspended) - see if you think they're worth tossing some cash to! Remember: Kickstarter projects require full funding before any money is collected; if you pledge some money, and they don't hit their $80,000 goal, you're not out a penny. Thanks to CYBRFRK for the heads-up. (Louis Wu 16:44:34 UTC)

Wu Called Shotgun
Meanwhile, back at the homeland, DeeJ dropped another bombshell of happiness with the latest edition of Bungie's awesome "Community Ride-Along" feature. This time not only features some prominent members of the Community Carnage group from BNET, but our very own lady-killing, documentary-inspiring, living-legend leader, Louis Wu. Some great questions both asked and answered; check it out! Thanks to padraig08 for noticing, and for being on the Front Page two days in a row! (GrimBrother One 22:48:22 UTC)

Making of a Halo Figure
Sl'askia pointed out McFarlane's Making of a Halo Figure, a 3-part documentary showing how the company got into making Halo action figures - and how they actually make them. She linked Part 3 of 3 (Plastic Molds to Perfect Replica) - but you could start with Parts 1 of 3 (Intro & 3D Models) and 2 of 3 (3D Models to Plastic Molds). Great behind-the-scenes look! Halo: 10 Years of Building Communities
Operation Chastity, one of the first live-action fan film projects (and still the only one with a driveable Warthog), is spotlighted in a fan documentary on Halo as a community-building force, along with the crew from Haloathon - awesome! (OC's Pete Cooper is wearing the Leviathan-designed HBO shirt we sold recently, cranking the level up to 11.) Thanks to ChrisTheeCrappy for letting us know. (Louis Wu 15:18:02 UTC)

Two new Behind-The-Scenes videos are up at Halo Waypoint (in Silverlight format only; nothing yet on the Waypoint YouTube channel): a look at the Anniversary Terminals has devs discussing how (and why) the Terminals will work in the new game, and the Anniversary Music also gets some documentary love. Munky funks the brass, brings the gold
Back from Wu's epic LAN party, munky-058 made a behind-the-scenes documentary on what might be the last ever Halo LAN from the big man. It's a 200 MB download, clocking in at nearly 15 minutes, but it's certainly worth the watch! Update: Quicktime version here. (Hitmonchan 21:46:10 UTC)

Triple Reel
Machinima uploaded three new Halo videos on Monday:

  • "Reach's Last Day," created by soFallenfilms, is a "Cloverfield"-style documentary about an alien structure on Reach. Pretty interesting!
  • "Frostbite: Chapter One," directed by Ty Coker of Blood-Chain Productions, is set in 2347, when according to this series, the sun begins to burn out. Interesting script, although the voice acting could use some work.
  • "Videogames Suck" is a video from AxeInfection that pokes fun at game companies. The title says it's a Reach machinima, but it's actually made in Halo 3. There's also a bit of foul language.

Give 'em a watch! (Hitmonchan 05:08:52 UTC)
