Loftus charts Zeta Halo's solar cycles
Resident technical expert Stephen Loftus stopped by to let us know he did the hard work of figuring out the rotational dynamics of Zeta Halo from Halo Infinite. Turns out a day in the day/night cycle is an hour of real time. Neat! (fuchsdh 21:00:08 UTC)

Halo Signs - Refreshed
After an 8-year hiatus, Stephen Loftus is back with around 100 new Halo signs, downloadable in high quality if you so desire. Unfortunately, the page navigation is somewhat clunky (100% my fault, not Stephen's, it was built well over a decade ago), so finding the new stuff means scrolling to the end of each section (Civilian, Covenant, Miscellaneous, UNSC) and checking out the latest entries. Sorry about that! Newest Civilian images begin at the bottom of this page, while Covenant is here, Miscellaneous is here, and UNSC is here. (Louis Wu 21:09:11 UTC)

Canon Fodder celebrates issue 117 with oodles of Chief content and announcements
This week's Canon Fodder is issue #117, so Grim pulled out all the stops. In addition to a ton of Chief-focused community content, there's word of a new, beefier Encyclopedia (checked over, of course, by Stephen Loftus,) and some thoughts from Claude himself on our favorite green-armored Chief. The Signs of Halo get their first Halo 5 update
It's been two years since Stephen Loftus updated his 'Signs of Halo' page - but he's turned in a number of new Halo 5-based graphics, and they're gorgeous! Several new civilian signs can be found on this page, along with one new Covenant sign, while a number of Miscellaneous signs are on this page, and a number of UNSC signs are here. Don't forget - larger versions are visible (and downloadable) beyond every thumbnail! (Louis Wu 19:29:55 UTC)

How big is that thing, anyway?
Stephen Loftus was messing around with 3ds Max and decided to put the interior portions of the Forward Unto Dawn (the game spaces we play in at the start of Halo 4) into a model of the ship, to see how big it actually needed to be to fit what we saw in-game. The results are... surprising. Go see! (Louis Wu 23:26:54 UTC)

Finding Heretic
Stephen Loftus stopped in with an old image he'd whipped up in the late Halo 3 days... where he had been trying to pin down where the multiplayer map Heretic had come from. Pretty cool stuff! (Louis Wu 23:44:15 UTC)

The Scale Keeps Changing
Stephen Loftus has upgraded his Halo Scale Comparison yet again - this time, there are two new pages added in the front, showing off the scale of the Forerunner shield world described in 'Ghost of Onyx', and the more familiar Sun in our own solar system. (He's also corrected a couple of small errors, but most of you will have serious trouble finding them.) Check 'em out! (Louis Wu 17:57:47 UTC)

Halo Scale Comparison - Now Updated with Halo 4 Objects
Back in 2005, Stephen Loftus created a Scale Comparison in Halo article - showing you how various structures and vehicles and characters fit together, size-wise. Over the years, he's improved this project, adding new items from later games and slotting them into the existing structure. He's done this again, and it's a HUGE advance; at the time of the last update (January 2013), there were 27 pages of images. Now there are almost 50. Swing by and dive in - it's fascinating! (If you've explored the collection before, you'll want to scroll down to the bottom of the main page - click on the Ark to get started on the cascading scale pages. That's where all the goodies are hiding.) (Louis Wu 21:46:05 UTC)

Essential Interview: Loftus on the Visual Guide
Posting this a little bit late... apologies. Great read! (Louis Wu 23:50:16 UTC)

Space Blimp? Whoa.
Stephen Loftus was poking through some Halo 2 game files and ran across an ambient life form that I have never seen before - even now, 9 years after the game's release! Amazing. Swing by and take a look; it's likely it was actually cut from the game (nobody's been able to see it in-game yet)... but even so, you'd have thought that SOMEONE would have noticed it before now. I learn something new every day! (Louis Wu 17:47:17 UTC)

Still no 'Keep off the Grass', though
Stephen Loftus found another batch of vectorized Halo artwork he hadn't posted - and we've added 18 new images to his 'Signs' collection. Check the end of the Civilian collection (here), the end of the 'Miscellaneous' collection (here), and the end of the 'UNSC' collection (here). Great stuff! (Louis Wu 20:50:54 UTC)

Scaling the Heights, and Then Some
Stephen Loftus has completed a massive update to his Halo Scale Charts - the total number of pages has increased from 12 pages in the last version to 27 pages in this one! It contains a mountain of new items from previous games, plus most major vehicles from Reach and Halo Wars. Go take a look! (The original article is unchanged; only the Cascade Scaling images are new. You can jump right to the top level of this series if you're in a hurry.) (Louis Wu 20:52:39 UTC)

What If I Watch Videos About Halo? Does That Count?
Stephen "SoundEffect" Loftus brought to our attention an article from the LA Times discussing new data on Xbox usage for Games vs Entertainment. While - as Stephen notes - Halo is really only a passing mention, it's still some very eye-opening information about the general population'x Xbox habits. Go and check it out! Pelican Data Sheet - now printable
Stephen Loftus reworked the opening graphic in his 2005 article on the Pelican Dropship in response to a fan who wanted to print it out as a poster; it now scales very nicely. (It also contains some new info, and the silhouette is of the original Halo Pelican, rather than the Halo 2 version shown in the article.) The PDF is available from the original article, if you'd like to print your OWN poster! (Louis Wu 17:05:27 UTC)
