July 19, 2011 Link to this post Musical Swag
Folks have been telling our forum (and other forums) about the contents of their swag bags purchased from the Bungie Store a couple of weeks ago - tons and tons of cool stuff. rowboat stopped in last night with something really cool - his bag contained photocopied sheet music from a number of Halo tunes (first page only). He was kind enough to scan them, so the entire community can share in his wealth! (Our forum was thrilled to see the Siege of Madrigal music in the collection... I guess many of them have forgotten that Marty released that one already, more than 9 years ago.) (Louis Wu 14:28:33 UTC)

December 14, 2008 Link to this post Halo Sheet Music For Sale
Halo music fans have been waiting for Halo sheet music for a long, long time - and it looks like it's finally coming. (There've been fan-arranged releases... but it's not quite the same thing.) Marty O'Donnell pointed out that One Final Effort (from Halo 3) is now available from Sheet Music Plus - and he hopes that more will be available soon. Check it out! (Louis Wu 15:21:25 UTC)

Narcogen let us know that HaloMusic.com - erm, sorry, I mean Rampancy.net - has a whole bunch of new music and music musings for you today. MJCrascal21 has submitted 'Follow our Brothers', 'To Kill a Demon', and 'Covenant Dance' to the Sheet Music database (some audio coming soon), and Narcogen has added part three of his Halo 3 Soundtrack Review, which finishes the project. (This last part tries to be a little less wordy than parts One and Two - but Narc explains in the comments that he's planning to revisit some of the themes in later works, so he didn't feel like he was shorting anything.) Good stuff! (Louis Wu 14:09:59 UTC)

Calliope got word that musicnotes.com is marketing the official sheet music for Halo (they've got the Halo theme and the Halo theme (Mjolnir Mix). Cost is about $5 each (a little more or less, depending on which one, and whether you're a 'Digital Club member' or not). (Louis Wu 11:25:13 UTC)

March 28, 2006 Link to this post Sheet music - now for schools Wow, very very cool. We get email regularly from high school students or teachers looking for sheet music for Halo pieces; we generally send them to Rampancy.net, which has (I think) the largest collection of Halo sheet music on the net. However, most of this is fan-transcribed, and ranges in quality from very, very good to... um, not so good. Konrad noticed an article over at Siliconera which says Video Games Live has teamed up with Alfred Publishing to bring a number of video game pieces to schools. The arrangements seem to be done by teachers... but I'm guessing there's SOME sort of quality control, right? (I can't point you directly to the VGL announcement at Alfred, because it's in a frameset - but it's about halfway down their front page at the moment. Currently, it lists The Halo Theme (for both Orchestra and Marching Band) and Halo (for Concert Band), all ranging from $50-$60, with more pieces coming.) (Louis Wu 19:49:20 UTC)
February 8, 2005 Link to this post Truth and Recon Suite, annotated The Halo Sheet Music collection at Rampancy.net has grown again; Spencer "Poop Scoop" Anunsen has submitted the theme from the Truth & Reconciliation Suite. Registration (free) required for download. This one comes in a 3-pack; you get a Midi file, a .mus file (I don't know what can read this on a Mac), and a PDF. Go grab it! (Louis Wu 13:19:35 UTC)
November 13, 2004 Link to this post Sheet Music - you're on your own. Marty O'Donnell has posted a pretty definitive statement about Halo 2 (and Halo) sheet music - he's okay with fans transcribing it, but he's not going to be doing it himself. (There are solid reasons for this.) Read the post on his 7th Column chapter for more details. Thanks, Jarrad Whitaker. (Louis Wu 16:48:53 UTC)
August 29, 2004 Link to this post More Transcribed Halo Music Poop Scoop has transcribed another trio of Halo music pieces - 'The Maw', 'On a Pale Horse', and Edgen's 'Halo: Master and Chief' - and put up the sheet music (in pdf format), a midi version, and a Finale file for each piece. You can find all of this over at Rampancy.net. Nice! Update: I forgot; you won't see a 'download' link on the individual pages unless you're logged in. (Registration is free.) (Louis Wu 15:14:28 UTC)
March 15, 2002 Link to this post Truth and Recon updates Woohoo! Bungie's Tru7h and Reconciliation site is updated again - this time with human concept art (bittersweet to see a female engineer) and more wallpapers (though the Longswords are mislabeled as Longbows - which, in retrospect, might be a more appropriate name for them anyway). Last, but certainly not least, Marty has kindly made the sheet music for Siege of Madrigal available for download (local copy) - this one's for you, Psyrixx. Credit for the heads-up this time goes to kayas (who's supposed to be taking a break from Halo...). (Louis Wu 03:53:22 UTC)
