Konfabulator widgets - now for Windows, too
HaloTwoFreak points out that the Windows version of Konfabulator is now available; we've mentioned a number of Konfabulator widgets over the past couple of years, but until now, only MacOSX users could make use of them. Follow the link above to see what's out there in terms of Halo-related widgets, and then grab your copy of Konfabulator to use them! (Louis Wu 00:45:44 UTC)

New resources for alien text
Holy moley... in the last couple of days, a TON of tools for decoding the alien font used on halo2.com have come out - and now, you can find not one, but THREE different fonts available for writing your own messages on Wallpaper or whatever. We mentioned two tools yesterday - now there's a third (37K), and it's functionally identical to Chappy's Konfabulator widget, except that it runs on a PC and is built with .NET. The three fonts come from MrFluffyPants (8k), Multipilot (8k), and eek (5k). Grab 'em all, see which one suits you best. Okay - there's plenty more news for today - but real life takes me away from the computer for a bit; back in a couple of hours. Update: focused7 has updated his decoder to sort shapes by common feature. Link has been updated. (Louis Wu 14:59:30 UTC)

Halo2.com translating simplified (for macs)
Very cool. Chappy has created a Konfabulator widget (138K) to ease translation of the code found on halo2.com. This requires Konfabulator, a MacOSX in-system javascript runtime engine that allows you to put cool functions on your desktop. This one is pretty useful, if you're trying to decode a message; simply click the appropriate symbols, and the message will be typed out in the text bar at the top. A sample screenshot is here (78K). Again - this works in MacOSX only. Update: I just noticed that there's a PC equivalent, of sorts - IWTPH2 created a small app that allows you to do the same thing. A tad harder to use - but it runs on a PC, which the widget does not. :) (Louis Wu 14:09:00 UTC)

Dialogue Widgets
Joshua Pettigrew has created a few bizarre widgets for Konfabulator, a MacOSX interface enhancer. (If you're not using MacOSX, these are useless to you.) Drop them on your desktop, click on them, they spit out random dialogue from the game. if this sounds like something that interests you, go grab 'em. (Forum thread is here, for comments.) Halo 2 Countdown Widget
Almost lost in the insane postage about Bees and discussions of BitTorrent, a post last night from Joshua Pettigrew pointed out a Konfabulator Widget he created to count down to the release of Halo 2. Konfabulator is a Javascript engine that runs on the MacOSX desktop - if you don't have MacOSX, you don't need this widget. (Louis Wu 20:33:14 UTC)

Halo Countdown for OSX
For Mac OSX users, Matt(Uh...#5?) has created a Konfabulator Widget to countdown to Halo 2. Details (pics, links, you name it) can be found in this forum post. Update: both Matt and Sanchezthellama have made available new versions with fixed dates (Matt's also has a different background). Cuts waiting time by a month or so. :) (Louis Wu 13:38:09 UTC)

Bungie Webcam Widget for OSX
The timing isn't great, since the webcam is offline for a little bit, but Joshua Pettigrew has created a pretty cool widget for use with a wicked-cool program called Konfabulator that puts the Bungie Webcam image into a free-floating frame on your desktop, no browser required. Konfabulator runs only on MacOSX - so if you're running some other operating system, this ain't very much use to you... but for those of us with OSX, it's pretty nifty. (Konfabulator rocks. Period.)
