For want of a victorious gunfight, a brilliant and high-ranking commander was lost.
For want of a brilliant and high-ranking commander, a cruiser was lost.
For want of a cruiser, all air cover was lost.
For want of air cover, a recon group was lost.
For want of a successful recon group, good intelligence was lost.
For want of good intelligence, a major battle was lost.
For want of a victory, a planet was lost.
For want of a captured planet, a system was lost.
For want of a system, a strategy was lost.
For want of a good strategy, a fast campaign was lost.
For want of a quick campaign, morale was lost.
For want of high morale, a winning streak was lost.
For want of a winning streak, resources were lost.
For want of resources, a war was lost.
