Author's note: This originally started out as an entry for the Enkidu competition...until i realized that it was awful and that it wouldn't win anything at all. I've entered with something much better, but for now, enjoy the fruits of my boredom!
The Pelican
Marines are dying near me
O, Heaven! Who can hear me?
I call for evac on the sly,
As plasma comes whizzing by
But then, what should come in to view?
Foehammer, and her Pelican, too!
The ramp lowers; I make a dash
For safety, and hazardous duty cash!
I leap aboard, not a moment too soon
The ground behind me explodes like a big balloon!
O marvelous bird, you're not just the queen
You're the Pelican known as Echo four nineteen!
