FIREBASE ALPHA
PELICAN LANDING ZONE
Szant and his men ripped through the Human defenses and were experiencing some unexpected resistance at the HQ of the firebase. He turned to one of his communication Grunts and said, "Piyat, call in the Goliaths!" Goliaths are a Grunt developed vehicle fit only for Grunts. They were twice the size of a Ghost and had about twice the firepower. They had a slick oval chasis that hovered like most Covenant vehicles. On the front were two plasma cannons like the Ghosts and on the back was a turret with a fuel rod cannon with two plasma cannons attached to the bottom so that it was equipped like a Banshee.
Piyat quickly accessed the neccessary connections to link in with the Covenant headquarters on the planet. After a few cycles, the order was on its way. As Piyat closed his comm link, he noticed that Szant had already moved forward and was at the moment crushing a soldier's head with his plasma rifle. Sworn to stay at his side, Piyat swore as he moved closer to the enemy.
Piyat was content being a communications Grunt in the Old Covenant. He had very little responsibility due to the fact that there were so many Grunts in the Covenant military. During the fight on Earth, Piyat was reassigned to Fleet Command. During his duty his comm skills saved the lives of Szant and most of "The God's Chosen". He overrode the Prophet's direct orders and called in dropships to pick up The God's Chosen out of a fierce battle in Australia. Saving the lives of the men he fought with on that day, and at the same time condemning himself to death.
Luckily for Piyat, Szant learned of his predicament, and The God's Chosen took control of the ship Piyat was on and left the Old Covenant for good. Many other companies and whole divisions left the Old Covenant as well after being left to by the Prophet's orders. These ronin warriors combined to form the New Covenant, bent on taking control of the galaxy to escape from their war torn lives and just live.
That was why they were on Planet Emos of the Morf system, as the Humans named it. During the long amounts of time Piyat spent on his comm system, he learned a lot from the reports that came in. One thing he learned was that there was a crystal on this planet that transported beings to a totally different world, probably in a totally different universe. Which means, it would be far from this Human-Covenant War. But right now all he had to worry about was stayin alive and keepin up with Szant.
Capt. Steve Horner and his platoon made up the defenders of firebase alpha. Now they were down to only fifteen men. The Capt. and his handfull of Army regs were determined to hold the HQ until their reinforcements arrived. Horner heard the stories and read the reports of what the Spartan IIs have done. He was also blessed with the chance to fight with one once. Now he only hoped he could stay alive long enough to see one once more.
Capt. Steve Horner was posted up behind a sand bag bunker with two of his men. The man directly next to him was the one talking to the Solar. Horner turned to Pvt. Louis Hiller and was about to ask how much longer till the reinforcements, but then he heard a horrible screech in the air. Horner poked his head from behind the bunker just in time to see a devilish green missle impact with another sandbag bunker and obliterate it along with two more men. He then traced the round back to the source. He expected to see a Hunter, but what he saw was something that resembled a rabbit, a rabbit with shiny purple armor and plasma weapons. At that sight he had no choice but to have his men fall back.
The Solar peered out the cockpit window of the Pelican and witnessed a rather large green explosion and two bodies vaporize. Then he witnessed a massacre. The men on the ground tried to retreat, but were chased down and ripped apart like worms in a bird nest. Sleek, speedy, Covenant vehicles chased them down and dismembered the remaining members of firebase alpha.
The pilot seeing this as well, looked at SSgt. Solar with horror in her eyes. Solar, realizing the defeat of the Army ordered a change of course. Solar was gonna make sure firebase charlie did not come under the same fate.
