A/N: This is a free verse poem that I just though of. It doesn't ryhme, so don't bitch to me about why it doesn't ryhme. Please comment when you're finished. Enjoy:

The Marines

Pillars of high gray stone,
Deep brown muddy trenches,
The lush green rolling forests;
Places where they seek cover...

They lock and load,
Waiting their orders,
The Covenant paint the horizon;
Some would not live...

Back at home,
Their families mourn,
They suffer the consequences;
They're well enough alone...

Plasma burns,
Bodies softly fall,
Blood pours to the ground;
They live the hells of war...

May their souls drift along the barren battlefield,
May they rest in peace,
The Covenant may have beaten them,
But the UNSC Marines will live on...

A/N: I tired to make this seem dramatic, and, IMO, I think I succeeded in doing just that. Please post your comments on what I can do to improve my poetry skills. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
