Authors note: This is based on a true story of Raw Fish (on rice and wrapped in seaweed) versus Zelda. Team Sushi versus Team Sheikah. Brother versus Sister. As a result of this the Spartans are made up. They are based on real people but don't tie in with the Halo storyline much. For instance they never trained with John, Sam and Kelly, that's for sure. The map is set loosely on Ivory Tower. Go LAN!

Another Authors Note: Some might say that this is just a pad for time as I try to think of another (much better, I promise) storyline. But it is truly a labour of love.

One More For Luck: Prepare for some mild language.

Spartan 304 leaned against the wall. He could hear his panting, his heart beating. Where was his team? He had lost communications with them not long ago. He slid down the wall into a sitting position and dropped his Battle Rifle onto his lap. His fingers were shaking and reloading his gun was fiddly. He controlled his hand. Fingers? Shaking? That wasn't like him. It wasn't like a Spartan. He was loosing his nerve. Emotions were seeping into his mind. Emotions he thought he had become immune to years ago. Fear. Fatigue.

He stood up again. This place was crawling with Elites. Big, ugly ones, he thought, real ugly. There was static on his comms and the sound of running water. A picture flashed on the top left of his HUD. There was Donkey, Spartan 217. "Hey sir." A cheery voice. "Like coconuts?" The view panned upwards to the top of a coconut tree and the coconuts were shot down, one by one by pinpoint shots.

"Nice shot." replied 304. "Were the hell are you?" 304 started walking down a narrow path.

"Sending you the coordinates now." Numbers flickered onto 304's HUD, then a NAV point. Left.

"Where are the others?" Spartan 304 hopped over a small wall, a small, orange, fish emblem glistened on his left shoulder pad.

"No idea, sir. Still no contact." There was silence on the other end. "Sir? Are you all right? Please report, sir." 304 placed his hand on the dead Spartans face. She lay on the dirty floor, on her back, gashes all over her chest and a severe wound on her neck.

"I'm fine. One Spartan missing in action."

"MIA? Oh. Right." There was no noise on either end for a short while. It felt like longer. A lot longer. 304 stood up and gripped his BR55 even harder. He was getting closer to Donkey. Wouldn't be long now. The soft dirt crunched under the Spartan's heavy weight. He turned his head left and right and hopped over another wall.

There. To his left. An Elite. Dark grey, almost black. A long, two-pronged energy sword in it's four fingered right hand. It hadn't seen him though. Good. Spartan 304 looked around him, making sure nothing was around him. Nothing ready to jump out and ambush him, before dropping his head to the ground. He backed into a wall and knelt down. He pulled his Rifle's stock to his shoulder with little ease. It was just like moving his arm. Focusing down his 2x scope he lined up the crosshairs and the central reticule went a satisfactory red. Head shot. Perfect. Easy. Effective. Three shots banged into the air. Then another three. Then some more. The bewildered Elite's shield flashed like a icy spider web. Take this ya bitch. The Elite slumped to the floor in a bundle of blood and the Spartan sped towards it. Let's see what toys this Elite's been given to play with. No enemies. Good.

"What's going on?" asked 217.

"Just some alien." 304 bent down to the dead Covenant corpse. An energy sword lay by its hand. That would undoubtedly come in handy. 304 raised his head. What was that noise? Not far from him, maybe a metre or two the air shimmered. The distorted air clearly took the shape of an Elite. It took one step towards him and as if from nowhere, a sound akin glass smashing shattered the air and an energy sword wavered menacingly near the Spartans face. 304 leapt backwards and turned his sword on too.

The Elite moved with lightning speed and it was hard to keep up with the blows. The Elite took a lethal dive for 304. It sliced through the right cheek of his helmet and as he managed to push the thing away he could feel the blood run down his cheek. Lil shit's fast. This was a weapon he hadn't trained with. Another attack pierced his left shoulder. But this one went all the way through. 304 let out a scream. A quiet one though. He mustn't let pain get to him. Blood flowed freely from this wound. The blood was cold. Like steel. Hard to dodge the torrent of hits cascading towards him in a blur of blade with a shoulder like this. The Elite swiped at 304's head. 304 ducked, just, and rammed his shoulder into the solar plexus of the creature. The Elite dropped the energy sword and pummelled 304's head unrelentingly. 304 felt the blows thud into his brain. A padded bang, bang, bang echoed throughout his skull. He managed to slam the alien into a wall, still digging in with his shoulder. He repeatedly thrust his left fist into the Elite's side, feeling the shock of each hit recoil into his bleeding shoulder. Then a stream of plasma splashed into his right breastplate. Damn bastard managed to get his hand on his gun, did he? Let's see how he likes this. As his body heated up, his suit starting to melt, he drove his energy sword up into the Elite's neck. The roaring subsided and 304 pushed himself away from the dead thing, an energy sword protruding from the top of its skull.

"Hey, sir!" That didn't come from his comms. He turned his back on the alien and hopped over another wall. A plaza littered with earth and four tall coconut trees lay serenely under his feet. The remainder of his squad, two Spartans, had found Donkey as well. There was little time to say hello as a stream of Elites jumped over the walls to the plaza. Glass shattered as the Spartans backed into the centre of the plaza firing three shots into the Elite's repulsive heads. Necks snapped as roars and shrieks resonated into the sky.

"FUUUUCCCCKKKKKK!!!!" Several Elites jumped towards and over them. 304's squad were having major troubles firing at these guys while trying to halt the incoming horde. They were too close now so melee moves became the primary use of defence. One of his squad dropped his weapons all together and punched as hard as he could and as well aimed as he could.

Soon the rain of enemies finished and a solitary alien fell to the ground. The Spartans sat on the floor. Content with their kills and the lack of human casualties, but one of course, they would search the grounds one more time and then leave. Finally. They would leave.
