The Gunback's Part 1

Before I begin to tell this fictional story I had better explain some of the things in it that no one will recognise.
MA5A: Like the gun in halo but a pre version. It has no compass and only holds 30 rounds but is still gas based and has an ammo screen.
DS-156: DS stands for Deep Space and 156 is the colony number 9 the one hundredth and fifty-sixth colony to have been founded in deep space.
Ship Omelette: The space army curser.
Gun Backs: This is the nickname given to one of the creatures of the covenant forces. Gunbacks are like larger grunts, bigger than hunters but very similar to appearance of grunts and use the same breathing gear as grunts. They are called Gunbacks because they carry large guns on their backs that grunts operate. They walk on two legs mainly but when combat is engaged they go onto all fours and are VERY strong. When on all fours a grunt jumps on the gun on they're back to operate it, the gunback can still slowly move while the gun is being fired. They have a medium amount of armour on so they can move quickly around the battlefield and not be too slow; but their heads and shoulders are very well protected because that part takes the most fire while on all fours.
2529/February/exact date unknown
The drop ship flew quickly over the sun set ocean of the unnamed human colony; the ocean was vast around this world and touched every inch of it except for a very large chunk of land in the middle of the planet. Every marine's heart was beating faster than ever before because they were about to face the biggest threat to mankind ever.
The covenant.
The destination was from omelette to the city of DS-156 and it was being invaded by the covenant.
Kidd (as he was known) was looking around the ship at the other marines who were clicking their guns or pointing their pistols with erect arms and one eye closed. In the red lighting of the drop ship Kidd said
"So what are these gu… I mean things like?"
The sergeant turned around and said
"Why don't you phone them and ask? HOW THE HELL SHOULD I KNOW!" then he added
"All I know is there tough, I was told by my old major that one of their guys I think there calling them elites killed seven of our guys ON HIS OWN! And never showed a little god dam bit of fear"
This made every marine stare blankly at the sergeant with fear and surprise. It was tense in here before but now some were sweating, breathing heavily and clutching their guns really tight…
… "PREP TO LAND 2 MINUTES MARINES!" shouted the pilot. By this time the marines were flying over DS-156 and they saw marines battling covenant and lots of blew beams from the sky smashing into the buildings and messing up the whole City.
"MOVE IT NOW GO GO GO!"
Shouted the sarge and we all ran out into a large group about 500 strong Men. A man shouting into a microphone could be heard telling the troops where to go. Kidd's group was about 25 men all going to the west side of the city to battle covenant straight up. The men followed their orders and all slowly walked along the road that had abandoned cars in it: buildings around them still intact and has a view of chaos in the distance. Fire cursed building of blue and red flames could be seen ahead and was complimented with the sounds of shooting, explosions screams and plasma blasts.
The group approached a pile up of cars and stopped.
"There's a gu… thing, Covenant!"
Kidd shouted as a blue Elite ran past 50 meters away, gun extended out leading the way with 7 grunts following him. Every one and thing hesitated for a second then the 8 foot tall Elite looked at the group of men and screamed while tensing its arms and upper body; during this a grunt turned and ran off with its army flying shouting in a squeaky voice
"Back up back up!"
"Take cover!" shouted the Sergeant who was in charge and all the men crouched behind the cars or in buildings, and then he ordered a group of 8 men to engage the enemy.
During all this the remaining covenant grunts hopped about and slowly moved forwards shooting; the large Elite fearlessly ran at grate speed at the group making heavy breathing noises that echoed and broke the sudden silence. This was obviously I sight to see for the first time and them men were in a dazed stare with there guns at there sides as the enemy ran at them.
As the grunts shot plasma flew by them and one marine was hit in the chest and he flew backwards in an explosion of human armour green and red.
"Replace that man!"
shouted the Sergeant and no man was too confident to volunteer.
"Open fire!"
Shouted the sergeant while he let off the first couple of rounds from his MA5A.
After this all the marines opened fire to hit the elite who was now shooting back. The elites shield flashed around its body while it shot back still with grate accuracy. Another man went down when a ball of plasma scrambled through his neck, and then another was wounded when a grunt hit him in the shoulder.
"Help! It s Burning me!"
The marine's wound has green plasma still in it and it was still burning its way into his innards. The marine tossed around as he was being dragged off and replaced and then just stopped and was dragged along dead.
The elite still continued his one covenant onslaught on the marines, as he or she done this it laughed when the marines cowered or missed him with bullets. The grunts were very close now and one threw a grenade and all the men scattered because they had had the warning of what there grenades were like. The blue bang flew some of the cars around and left a strange colour on the ground.
The elite stepped over the cars and continued into the middle of the now about 27 men and was shot at furiously. Suddenly he lashed out with a furious downwards swipe at a marine and a disgusting crunch of his skull ended him. Discouraging cries from marines were not uncommon as the elites shield flickered madly and the eventually disappeared. Without its shield the elite was no match for all the bullets and in a microsecond he had more bullets in him than one of the ammo clips.
At the sight of this the small grunts panic and ran off arms flying shouting
"Run away!" and "He's dead lets get out of here".
Only one grunt got away around the corner and the 23 or so marines left ran after him around a corner.
As the marines sharply turned the corner a sickening sight could be seen about 15 grunts 3 elites and one Gunback could be seen but that was not all there troubles.
From the corner they had just ran around a great thumping noise was heard, then another and another and the corner of the building collapsed to reveal a gun back smashing the wall down!
The gunback stood on the second floor and was quick to get on all fours, so the grunt jumped on and took aim at the group of humans. The marines did not hesitate and opened fire mainly at the walking gun turret but the bullets just ricocheted and stopped dead on the thick head and shoulder armour.
The grunt let rip and purple plasma flew at them in groups of three. The plasma ripped through most of the marines leaving the rest to scatter and run back. Two brave marines opened fire at the gunback from the side so the grunt had no protection and managed to fatally wound him. The gun back was not useless now however because it stood up jumped down from the second floor and surprisingly quick ran at them. The marines managed to dodge out the way but were even more surprised when the gunback unclipped a buckle on its front and the gun and armour fell off.
This made the gunback only a little slower than an elite so it quickly ran at them and crushed the two marines and one spurted its guts out his mouth.
The other marines were long gone except for kid who had stayed behind to take in dog tags. As the unarmed gunback ran around the corner at him he didn't knew quite what to think, but he shot at him anyway. The bullets have only a small affect on the gunback so he threw a grenade at the base of the cars. The gunback approached the gars and then as it slowed to step over them the grenade went off.
This blew the gunback's legs off and then Kidd was quick to run up screaming
"Die ass hole die!" while he pummelled its face with bullets.
He stopped and looked up. His body was sweaty and he was breathing heavily as he slowly looked up to see the strong covenant forces approach.
